Rusted steel screams from railroad tracks at night
In tact pennies flatten, scampering field mice
Bass rumbles through the city, I hear the great horns booming
Some lady pauses knitting 'til noise quits intervening
I could lie here wide awake until I crash
On the bright side all this uproar's a distraction

I'm waiting patiently for a turn in my direction
It cannot just be me that's affected by electric pulses

Fend off oval shapes for as long as I can
All this time I've dragged a sling blade through the sand
Among the underbrush are sharp plants I've never really seen
Not one fruit watched is rotten but all seem fake to some degree

Since I'm US 13 likely prints won't match

If I could pump the breaks than don't you trust I would
This paint'll keep on flicking down the cracks in hard-wood panels
